Switching are more efficient, cheaper, lighter, etc. So why do I still see people use linear power supplies?

Yes, witching power supplies are more efficient, but there are downsides in certain applications. Switching power supplies have substantially more noise due to rapid switching, which can be a problem for sensitive circuits.

Switching regulators are also more expensive for smaller applications where power demands and heat dissipation are relatively low.

So for small circuits that are low-power and compact, a linear supply will usually do the trick. Choose a switching unit when the power demands increase.
